I. The development history of China's kitchen and bathroom industry

Since the reform and opening up, with the continuous development of the market economy and urbanization, especially the booming development of the real estate industry, people's living standards have been unprecedentedly high, the kitchen is not simply a place to cook, the bathroom is not just a place to wash, they have evolved into a culture, a culture of life closely related to people's home life.

Looking back at the development of the kitchen industry for more than 20 years, from the smoke and fire, choking smell of the "door fire" to today's safe and clean gas stove, induction cooker, from the steel bracket plus cement prefabricated plate of the simple operating table to today's various shapes and styles of finished cabinets, from the smoke, grease all over the black hole of the room to today's perfect function From the humble "squatting pit" to today's intelligent, fully automatic toilets, from a small, dark place of sewage to today's artistic space of health and fashion. We marvel at the rapid changes in this industry from traditional to modern and from passive imitation to active innovation of the accumulated results.

Looking back at the development of the kitchen and bathroom industry, China's kitchen and bathroom development has largely gone through three stages:

The first stage: the initial stage of the industry

Kitchen and bathroom industry is accompanied by the development of the real estate industry and the start. 1980 Comrade Xiaoping proposed housing system reform, China's real estate industry began to develop, and led to the rise of China's kitchen and bathroom industry.

In 1983, when the Institute of Air Conditioning of the Chinese Academy of Building Research took "residential kitchen air pollution and treatment measures" as an important topic, it developed the first generation of kitchen fume extractors in China, and passed the appraisal of the Ministry of Construction in 1984, which opened the curtain of residential kitchen research in China.

From 1985 to 1989, the Shenyang Institute of Construction Engineering and the Urban Housing Research Institute of the Ministry of Construction carried out "research on the air dynamics of the common kitchen exhaust system" and developed an early "variable pressure exhaust" to solve the problem of concentrated grease emission and improve the quality of the kitchen and bathroom environment. This solved the problem of concentrated grease emissions, improved the quality of the kitchen environment and laid the foundation for the market expansion of grease hoods.

On 30 January 1986, the People's Daily published a signed article entitled "The Potential Threat to Residential Kitchens", which drew the attention of the community. In 1986, Comrade Zhou Ganzhi met with the head of the group and gave important instructions on the research objectives and contents of the kitchen and bathroom.

At this time in history, the kitchen equipment in our homes was basically four steel bars on a prefabricated concrete slab with an early gas stove and a concrete sink. The bathroom equipment was a squatting pit. At that time, there were no enterprises producing equipment for residential kitchens and bathrooms.

Stage 2: Industry Formation Stage

In 1991, the pioneers represented by comrades such as Zhou Ganzhi put forward the slogan of "kitchen toilet revolution". China Construction News, the Ministry of Construction's internal publication "Residential Research Information" and other media made a lot of publicity on issues related to kitchens and bathrooms, the country began to pay attention to the issue of kitchens and bathrooms, and began to consider planning the development of the kitchen industry research.

1, the Ministry of Construction, the Ministry of Light Industry and other government departments in order to adapt to the development of the situation, joint forces from all sides, in 1992 by the Ministry of Construction proposed, approved by the Ministry of Civil Affairs, the establishment of the China Real Estate and Housing Research Association residential kitchen bathroom committee (referred to as the Kitchen and Bathroom Committee). Kitchen and bathroom committee by the construction authorities, developers, architectural design units, research institutes, kitchen and bathroom production enterprises together, the domestic well-known enterprises such as Haier, Guangzhou Meng bud, Yancheng Feiya, North Kitchen, etc. as the executive director unit, to discuss the development of the kitchen and bathroom industry.

2, the Ministry of Construction and other departments to organize the strength of the kitchen and bathroom respectively to carry out more systematic scientific research. Ministry of Construction Science and Technology Division will be the following topics as key scientific research topics: "multi-storey residential kitchen new equipment design and development", "well-off residential kitchen bathroom design general rules", "residential kitchen equipment and building modulus coordination study", "the whole kitchen, the whole bathroom equipment, pipe interface technology", "residential integrated kitchen", "residential kitchen bathroom variable pressure exhaust system". The Department of Standards and Quotations of the Ministry of Construction set up projects for the preparation of the following standards: the Ministry of Construction's industry standard "Residential Kitchen Exhaust Duct", "Residential Integrated Kitchen", "Residential Integrated Bathroom" and "Residential Remote Meter Reading System".

The Kitchen and Sanitary Committee organized domestic research institutes and kitchen and sanitary production enterprises to complete these scientific tasks, laying the technical foundation for the development of China's kitchen and sanitary industry.

3, the former State Science and Technology Commission, the Ministry of Construction, the Ministry of Light Industry, the Ministry of Chemical Industry, the State Building Materials Bureau and other five ministries and commissions jointly organized the National Major Science and Technology Industry Project "2000 Well-off Housing Demonstration Community", the Kitchen and Sanitary Committee as the head unit of the kitchen and sanitary group of the project's expert group, organized more than 400 domestic enterprises to actively participate in this project. Through the implementation and acceptance of this project, a number of backbone enterprises of kitchen and bathroom were cultivated, laying a material foundation for the development of China's kitchen and bathroom industry.

Comrade Zhou Ganzhi at different periods of this stage, have timely put forward important instructions, for example, in 1996, instructions to conduct research; 1998 instructions to develop kitchen and bathroom standards; 2000 instructions to engage in joint, the formation of industrial chains, the realization of kitchen and bathroom industrialization.

With the strong support of the leadership and the joint efforts of relevant kitchen and bathroom enterprises, by the end of the last century, China's kitchen and bathroom industry has taken shape.
